How many truly amazing family portraits do you have? How many of them are locked away in an e-mail or social media account that you can't remember the password to? How many of them were lost in a hard drive crash? How many were lost when you lost your phone? How many of them have you printed out and displayed in your home on a wall or in a photo album? And with you being a busy mom or dad, likely behind the camera most of the time, how many of these family portraits actually include YOU?
In her article, "Are We Breeding a 'Lost Generation' Who Won't Have Photo Albums to Capture Their Lives?" Julia Llewellyn Smith mulls over the fact that while her 10-year old daughter delights in looking at family portraits of her mom as a child, when her daughter asks, "Where are the pictures of my Christmases?" Julia shamefully answers that she's unsure.
So don't let your children become part of the "lost generation." Instead, give your children a solid sense of their past with professional family photography in conjunction with heirloom wall art and custom, heirloom-quality photography albums.
Need ideas? Check out the family photography album we custom-designed and printed for the M. family from their indoor-outdoor, in-home fall family pictures session in McLean, Virginia. The M's chose a premium black leather cover for their 10x10 size, 22-page family photography album with an elegant art linen inside paper.
As soon as K. saw the storybook bridal boudoir photography album samples at our Maryland boudoir studio, she knew that a showstopping bridal boudoir album would be the perfect wedding day gift for her husband-to-be. She chose a beautiful black floral fabric for the cover, which I complemented with black backgrounds in the interior, an art linen inside paper, and 45 of her very favorite bridal boudoir images.
When I sent K. the proof for her finished boudoir photo album design, asking if she would like me to make any changes, she responded, "This looks awesome!!! Thanks so much for putting this together! I am so excited for it! I don’t have any changes." Yay! That means I did my job as a boudoir photographer and boudoir photo album designer well!

When there are a large number of images from your maternity photography session that you want to preserve and pass down for generations, a custom-designed, heirloom-quality album is a gorgeous, classy way to remember your pregnancy and to complement the select number of wall portraits that you hang in your home.
Here, Ivan's mom & dad chose their favorite 26 images from their studio maternity photography session for an 8x12 size artful album. Their maternity photography album boasts a beautiful, platinum floral fabric cover and art linen inside paper. Enjoy some of my favorite spreads from their maternity photography session at our Maryland photography studio!
This is the second installment of our "How to Enjoy Your Boudoir Photography for Years to Come" series. Last month, I showed you boudoir photography wall portraits and love groupings, which, admittedly, are for the un-shy. So for those of you wish to be more discrete about who you unveil your boudoir photography to, a boudoir photography album is just the thing for you.
We offer two physical types of boudoir photography albums - Artful Albums and Bon a Vie albums. In this post, we're going to focus on Artful Albums.
First off, the Artful Boudoir Photography Album is not a photo book. The pages of our "Artful Albums" lie completely flat, so that there is no distortion across your boudoir photos, like there would be in a photo book. In fact, the left and right pages of the Artful Boudoir Photography Album consists of a single sheet, uncut, so that you see just a tiny crease in the middle where the spread folds. We offer a variety of textured and untextured paper types, which are then mounted on cardstock to make pages that are 1/16 of an inch thick. No tearing or bending with our "Artful Albums!" Also choose from a variety of cover options, including fabrics, leathers, suedes, canvas, and more. The Artful Boudoir Photography Album can contain 10-60 pages and is available in 10x10, 8x12, and 12x12 sizes.
We offer two design styles for the Artful Boudoir Photography Album: the classic design and the storybook design. All of our album designs are completely custom; your album design will be unique! When placing your boudoir photography album order, we discuss design elements, colors, and themes. I want to know what you like or don't like so I can design the perfect boudoir photography album for you!
The classic design is simple, traditional, and well... classic. Each page of the album contains a single image, with size variations between pages. So a 20-page album would contain 20 boudoir photos, and a 60-page album would contain 60 boudoir photos. For an absolute classic, choose a white, black, or other solid background behind the images. For a more feminine design, we can add patterned backgrounds, frilly borders, and other design elements.
Our storybook albums are designed to tell a story... the amazing story of YOU! A 20-page storybook boudoir photography album can contain 30-45 images. Add more pages if you'd like to include more images. Each 2-page set of a storybook album contains a different number of images. One set of pages could contain just a single horizontal image spread across left and right pages. Another set of pages might contain 6 or 8 images of varying sizes. As with the classic design, backgrounds can be a solid color or can be patterned with more design elements.
Your boudoir photographer cannot create this quality of album is not created overnight. We have to plan your session, do your session, place your album order, design your album, retouch and prep it for printing, and finally, print it. The Artful Boudoir Photography Album does not take as long to print as our handmade Bon a Vie albums. However, you should still plan for a minimum of 2.5 months from the date of your initial planning & design meeting to album delivery for an Artful Album (and 4.5 months for a handmade Bon a Vie boudoir photography album).
I had promised a few months ago in my post about H's artistic & classy boudoir photography session to take some photographs of H's finished boudoir photography album, which was a gift for her husband, D. While D. didn't come to H's boudoir photography session, he did join her for the "photo reveal" to pick the boudoir photos to go into his beautiful gift. He had chosen 66 of his favorite images for a 10x10, 30-page artful storybook album. Adorned with a gorgeous black fabric floral cover and glittery pearl inside pages, this album just screams luxury! Enjoy the photos below of some of my favorite spreads from H's classy boudoir photography album!
