When I first sat down with Daniel and Sophie’s mom for our pre-portrait consultation, she told me about her vision for our family photography session: natural-looking family portraits that would express her children’s personalities while also capturing the beautiful scenery of Glenview Mansion in Rockville, Maryland. When I asked her about the children’s personalities, she told me about how her little Daniel likes to introduce himself to people as “Daniel the Scientist.” He loves rocks and flowers and even carries around books on science! Sophie, on the other hand, LOVES to wear tutus! And so what better way to create a series of family portraits that were “all them” than to incorporate some of Daniel’s favorite books, plus a fairy outfit and lace canopy for little Sophie! My favorite family portrait from this Rockville family photography session? Two favorites, actually! The first image below of Daniel and Sophie sitting on a bed of orange pillows beneath a canopy of trees, completely engrossed in their books. And #2, the portrait of little Sophie hugging her big brother as they gaze between the droplets of water falling from the pentagonal fountain of the Glenview Mansion garden. Beautiful!
