Katie had already done her formal, draped senior portraits with her school photographer, when her mom called us up. “The senior portraits look nice, but they’re not like the senior pictures that some of her friends have gotten, and we want to capture more of her personality than what you see in the draped portraits,” her mom said. Katie’s first love is music, she explained, and she plays the guitar and djembe (an African handdrum). (I thought that was so cool… I love drums, and I took djembe lessons too during college!) And so we settled on an urban senior portraits session in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, with musical props. Say hello to Katie, Class of 2014!
