My wife has indicated interest on several occasions in getting pictures taken by a professional photographer… These family photos would be a birthday present for her…”

That’s the message that popped into my e-mail from Nate one week in August, and when we spoke on the phone, he explained to me that his wife’s family, as she was growing up, regularly went to a professional photographer, but that they themselves had never had a family photography session of the two of them and their children. And so Nate purchased a family photography session, and presented “it” to his wife on her birthday. “The gift went over very well, and she’s very excited about it!” he said to me after her birthday. And so just a few weeks later, the entire family came over to our Germantown-Clarksburg, MD photography studio for their pre-portrait planning session. They love the outdoors and hiking, and so after exploring a number of location ideas, we settled on the beautiful Sugarloaf Mountain in Dickerson, Maryland and a date in September. My favorites are the family photos on the peak of the mountain, with beautiful late day orange sunlight rimming their hair. Absolutely gorgeous!
