When Zayn’s mom first called to chat about in-home newborn photography in Gaithersburg, Maryland, I asked, as always, “Why me?”

“I’m looking for something different and personal. When I looked at other local newborn photographers, I saw the same poses and backgrounds. Yours stood out – every newborn photography session that I saw on your website was individual and different from the others.”

So when Zayn’s mom brought in her high school sweetheart hubby for an in-person photography consultation, we talked about how to make their newborn photography as personal as possible. They grew up as athletes and love watching sports together, so of course we needed to include soccer and football paraphernalia. Plus, they had done lots of work in Zayn’s nursery, decorated with big Z-A-Y-N letters on the wall and a chevron rug. “I love colorful pictures!” Zayn’s mom said. And on the date of their newborn photography session, as I walked through their house in Gaithersburg, I came across the perfect find – a giant pale blue teddy bear, perfect to nestle sleeping Zayn amidst his furry body.
