My name is Irene Abdou. I am a professional portrait photographer, and my goal is to illuminate the narratives of individuals thriving in spaces where they are underrepresented with my Limited Edition "Breaking the Mold: Portraits of Empowerment" photography sessions.

Whether capturing the determination of individuals transcending physical stereotypes, the success of mature workers in youth-oriented industries, the rise to prominence of racial minorities in leadership, or other example of triumph against the odds, each series of portraits will be a testament to the strength and tenacity of the human spirit.

But it's not just about the big moments; it's about celebrating the everyday acts of defiance too, such as a woman riding a sport bike, who challenges gender norms with each rev of the engine, or the individual confidently engaging in a new sport, defying sterotypes and highlighting the diversity of athletic prowess.

These acts of defiance within recreational pursuits also serve as powerful reminders to both the individuals and the outside world that passion knows no bounds and that barriers can be overcome with perseverance and creativity.

So, what barrier have you shattered?

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

I would love to photograph a wide variety of men and women, adults and children of all ages, all shapes & sizes, and all ethnicities in celebration of the diversity of the Washington DC metro area that we live in. The only requirement is that you (or your child) has thrived in a space in which you (or s/he/they) is/was underrepresented.

The Limited Edition "Breaking the Mold: Portraits of Empowerment" experience is an exciting odyssey. What could be better than a professional photography experience custom-tailored for you and focused on you!
