I would love to photograph a wide variety of teen and tween girls of all shapes and sizes and all ethnicities in celebration of the diversity of the Washington DC metro area that we live in.
The "Confident Girls, Empowered Women" photography experience is an exquisite adventure. What I am most excited about with this project is the opportunity to take the everyday young girl and give her an unforgettable, transformational, celebrity-style, magazine photography experience.
This is about so much more than just "taking pretty pictures." My hope is that your daughter's participation will lead her to see her beauty & spirit the way that you see her.

- The Makeup Guide: the written guide and how-to videos with gorgeous looks that work on everyone and easy-to-follow breakdowns.
- A 2 to 3-hour, multiple wardrobe change, fully directed beauty photography session, at which I'll expertly pose your daughter from head to toe.
- An in-person "photo reveal" and ordering appointment where your daughter’s beautiful photographs will be unveiled, and you choose the images your hearts desire you to purchase!

WHY TEENS + TWEENS?
I have photographed countless adult women who initially thought they’re unphotogenic. Women with only 1 or 2 photographs of themselves that they liked... Women who had none... Women who confessed dreading being photographed...
And what I found was that all they really need is a photographer who makes them feel comfortable and relaxed... a photographer who can bring out their natural smile and identify the most flattering angles, lighting, and posing for their face and body type... and a photographer who could guide them into those poses.
AND THEN I REALIZED THAT THE LACK OF SELF-CONFIDENCE IN A WOMAN'S OWN BEAUTY AND IMAGE DOESN'T HAPPEN OVERNIGHT.
IT STARTS IN THE TEEN AND TWEEN YEARS AND CARRIES OVER INTO WOMANHOOD.
WHY ME AND WHY NOW?
I Want to Make a Difference!
When I originally became a professional photographer nearly 20 years ago, it was because I loved the art of photography, and I loved being behind the camera.
BUT OVER TIME, I DISCOVERED THAT THROUGH MY ART, I HAVE THE POWER TO INFLUENCE SELF-IMAGE AND BUILD SELF-ESTEEM AND CONFIDENCE!
Before becoming a professional photographer, I spent more than 3 years in West Africa as a Peace Corps volunteer. I worked for 12 years after that in international development and humanitarian aid.
TODAY, I WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE HERE AT HOME.
And if I can help girls build self-esteem and confidence as early as in the tween and teen years... if I can help make a tween feel less awkward, or bring a teen out of that self-perpetuating spiral of low self-esteem... then I have truly made a difference.

WHAT TYPES OF PHOTOGRAPHY WILL MY DAUGHTER'S TEEN/TWEEN PHOTO SHOOT INCLUDE?
This is entirely up to you, because these images are for her and for you! We'll have time to create the more "standard" portraits, as well as some super artsy, out-of-the box portraits. It's really a matter of what suits her personality and style! Some of our girls have also enjoyed family portraits, sibling portraits, and/or portraits with beloved pets!
