"I have an organic family of five, plus my mother and son’s girlfriend. My kids will be visiting this summer, and it has been years since we've taken family portraits. We'd like a family photography session that would produce (fingers crossed) a large group portrait, organic family portraits, kids only portraits, and couple's portraits for my wife and I and my son and his girlfriend," Mike wrote in his initial e-mail.

Later on the phone with him and his wife, Patty, I asked 'Out of the hundreds of DC family photographers in our area, why did you choose to call us?' And they said:

"Your outdoor family photography gallery looks fantastic. We want something 'above' choosing between backdrops in a photography studio, and we need a family photographer who will direct us and come up with ideas, because our weakness is lack of creativity!"

And so, we planned their outdoor family photography session at Northern Virginia's George Mason University near their home in Fairfax. What a fun group! Enjoy some of my favorites from their session below!
