“I'm searching for a MD family photographer for a Mother’s Day gift for my wife and mother-in-law.  The session would include them plus a 20-month old toddler.  My intent is to purchase prints to hang on a wall, but also to have digital prints that they can share on their own social media channels, such as Facebook/iPhoto.”

When Kain called us on the phone, he said, “I looked at your portfolio – your photography is beautiful; I love the composition.”  He explained that he wanted to give the gift of the family portrait session on Mother’s Day, though the session itself could take place on a later date.  What a sweet and thoughtful Mother’s Day gift!  He wanted this family portrait session to be purely about the moms and toddler, so he would resist every effort they might make to draw him into the photographs.  “This is a really important session,” he said several times.  And so we mailed him a portrait certificate to present to his wife and mother-in-law on Mother’s Day.

A few days after Mother’s Day, his mother-in-law, Lynn, contacted me to set up a date for their pre-session planning/design meeting at our Germantown-Clarksburg, MD photography studio.  “I love your website.  I can really see the quality in all your photographs,” she said at the end of the meeting.  And Kain whispered out of their hearing, “I’m so impressed with your setup here.“

And so the following month, we all met up again at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, Maryland, for their family portrait session.  Kain came along to help little Carter laugh, and did he do that, zooming all around faster than Carter!

Some weeks later, back at our suburban MD photography studio for the “photo reveal,” the two women chose a 6-piece wall portrait love grouping – five pieces printed on metal with the largest one on canvas, a 20-page custom-designed storybook album, and a DVD.  Stay tuned for another blog post showing their finished artwork!
